From deception to defeat

They were deceived by his words and led to a path they could never return from. Don’t let that happen to you.

When God created the heavens and the earth, he created angels, His throne, and a place for His children. Among the angels, was an angel named Lucifer. Lucifer was “…the anointed cherub who covers.” Ezekiel 28:14 He was given power as a guard in heaven; power that would one day lead to his demise. The bible describes Lucifer as “perfect, beautiful, and powerful.”

“You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created…” Ezekiel 28:15

But Lucifer let his power lead to greed, to pride, and to selfish ambition.

“Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor…” Ezekiel 28:17

Lucifer let his desires control him and he used that to control other angels. He gathered angels and turned them against God by manipulating them into believing that one day they could overthrow the kingdom of God. Lucifer made them believe they would take over the thrown and have the power of God. They were deceived by his words and led to a path they could never return from. Don’t let that happen to you.

In Matthew 25:41, scripture tells us that Lucifer AND his angels were kicked out of heaven.

“…the devil and his angels.” Matthew 25:41

Lucifer, after being kicked out of heaven, was named the devil and his angels would become demons.

God prepared the Lake of fire for Lucifer and his angels and started the great divide between God and man. God knew what Lucifer would do, but He created him anyway.

Why would He do such a thing? Why would He create such evil?

The devil is described as “…going to and fro on the earth, and walking back and forth on it.” Job 1:7; 2:2

“…the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

His actions led him down a destructive path that would have a domino effect upon all mankind.

As I picture the devil walking around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, I picture my children, my students, the unsaved and broken being surrounded by the devil. I can see the devil encircling my child with an evil plan to devour him, seeking his weaknesses, waiting for a moment to attack. As he lingers on the earth, as his demons whisper lies into your mind, he’s seeking how and when he can pull you away from the Lord. Stand firm. Fill your mind with His love.

I ask you again, why would God create someone so evil? Why would He do such a thing to His own creation?

Hebrews 4:13 says, “And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.”

God sees all and knows all, yet He has a purpose for each and every moment of creation. Each and every one of us is born into sin, corrupted by this world, but He created us anyway.

As you look back at the story, notice how Lucifer was not alone. He chose to turn from God but he also brought others down with him. Every day, we are tempted to turn from God and follow this world. We are deceived by the lies of the devil and led to believe there is more to life than just living for God.

The choice you have to make is if you will choose to follow this world, to blend in with the culture around you, or follow your Heavenly Father, no matter the cost.

Following God may cost you your friends, your family, and your comfort, but following Christ is the best decision that you will ever make.

I encourage you to stand firm in your faith and spend time with your Father so that you will know when the devil is lurking around you and you won’t be deceived by the lies that this world will tell you. Never let others drag you down or turn you from what you know is right. It won’t be easy, but God will give you the strength if you look to Him.

“Be on guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” 1 Corinthians 16:13

I’m praying for you always! Stay strong! Stay faithful!

-Kayla Rampey

May God bless you and show you His grace every day!

Let god be god

Let God be God. Trust in the Father.

“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.” -Corrie ten Boom

Worry, like most sins, is destructive. It has a way of making you think that you will never be enough for this world. It fills your mind with lies that can lead you to a dark place, a place of brokenness and discontent with who you are. Worry tells you that you’ll never fit in, you’ll never achieve your dreams, and you’ll never be who you want to be. It convinces you that your life boils down to what you eat, how much or how little, what you wear, and what others think about you. Worry consumes your mind with things of this world that don’t even matter in relation to eternity. Worry makes you forget about your eternal purpose and that you are a child of God that is chosen, forgiven, and cared for by an Almighty God. Worry is destructive, deceptive, and can easily derail even the strongest of Christians from the path that God has put in front of them.

In Luke 12:22-31, Jesus reminded His disciples of His power and His provision for creation. At this time, the disciples’ faith was being put to the test. They had left everything behind to follow Jesus. They gave up everything they knew and were comfortable with and chose to follow a Man wherever He led no matter the cost. They were living on faith, extreme faith if you ask me, and the worst thing they could do was let worry creep into their minds. They would have to learn to set worry aside and let God be God.

“22 Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

27 “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! 29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.” Luke 12:22-31

Just as Jesus was reminded His disciples to focus on Him, He wants you to remember that if you fixate your mind on your worries, you’ll never be able to see the plan He has put in front of you. Worry blinds you to the world around you and the way God cares for His creation. Take a minute to read the scripture above and picture the image God has portrayed.

“Consider the ravens: they do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them…” (v24)

“Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin…” (v27)

God feeds the birds and provides a way for the flowers to bloom year after year, yet we look at ourselves and worry that He won’t provide what we need. Why is that? The problem is not that God doesn’t have enough power to provide for us; the problem is that we don’t have enough faith to wait on Him to provide.

You are a child of God and your Heavenly Father wants to provide for you, it’s time to step back, stop trying to fix things on your own, and let God be God.

Whatever your worry may be, remind yourself Who is in control. The answer is not you.  God is in control and He will provide for you if you trust in Him. It may not be exactly what you think you need or exactly when you want it to happen, but God always provides for His children.

Be patient. Be prayerful. And Let God be God.

May God bless you and show you His grace every day!

Under pressure

People are under pressure every day. The teenager that is struggling in school is under pressure to fit in, make the best grades, and juggle the busyness of their life. The athlete is under pressure to impress his/her parents, make the team, get a scholarship, and manage practice and school all at the same time. The working adult is under pressure to be a good parent, raise their child in the way that they should go, make the right decisions, get a good job, pay the bills, save their marriage, and just live up to the expectations they have created in their own mind. It’s not easy. Life is not easy. But you are not alone.

In John 16:33 the Bible states, I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Notice the part in scripture where it says, “…in this world you WILL have trouble.” The Bible doesn’t say IF you have trouble, it says you WILL have trouble. We are guaranteed to struggle at some point in time, but the second part of that verse reminds us that “He has overcome the world.” We can find peace in Him, in knowing that He has overcome any battle that we are facing.

No matter what is causing you pressure today, I encourage you to give it God. Seek the face of the Lord and let Him give you the peace that only He can give.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33

May God bless you and show you His grace every day!

-Kayla Rampey

Dear Lord, I pray for the one that feels like the pressure of the world is crushing them more and more each day. I pray that whatever pressure they are feeling with ease as they remember how great you are. Lord, give them peace in knowing they are not alone. I pray that you will give them peace, that you will lift them up, and you will remind them of your love and your promises every day. Lord, send someone their way to encourage them on their hardest days and pray for them when they need it most. Let them know it’s ok to not be ok, it’s ok to be honest with you, and it’s ok to ask for help. Lord, give them an honest heart, a heart that seeks you for all things and finds peace in you and you alone. Guide them closer to you and increase their faith. Wrap your arms around them and let them feel your peace. I pray all this in Jesus Name. Amen.

If you missed the conference on Friday, you can find it at the link below:

As we learned Friday night, sometimes God allows you to go through obstacles to strengthen you for what He already has planned. Joseph went through a lot in his life including being hated by his brothers, thrown into a pit, sold into slavery, falsely accused of rape, and put into jail for 2 years. He was completely isolated from his family for 22 years. Every obstacle he faced seemed to be worse than the last. Many times in hard situations people will ask, “Where is God?” In Joseph’s situation, before the rest of his journey even began, the scripture says “Because the patriarchs were jealous of Joseph, they sold him as a slave into Egypt. But God was with him. Acts 7:9 Despite the struggles Joseph went through, God never left his side. From the day he was sold into slavery to the day he breathed his last, God was with him.

Genesis 37-50 explain the whole story of Joseph but the part that stuck out with me the most was when he forgave his brothers in the end. Joseph said to his brothers, 22 years after they had sold him into slavery, “So it was God who sent me here, not you! And He is the One who made me an advisor to Pharaoh – the manager of his entire palace and the governor of all of Egypt.” Genesis 45:8

As Joseph looked back at all the obstacles he had faced in his life, he realized that God had a purpose for each one. It was God who sent him there, not anyone else. Because of his journey, Joseph would be in the right place at the right time to be able to interpret Pharaoh’s dreams that would warn him of the upcoming 7 year famine. Without warning about the famine, thousands of people would have died. God sent Joseph to save the people. He also sent him there to fulfill the covenant He had made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel. Years ago, God made a promise with Abraham that he would be the father of many nations, He would bless those who bless him and curse those who curse him, He would protect and He would prosper him, and most importantly his bloodline would lead to the Deliverer (Jesus Christ). His bloodline would bless all people. If a famine ended that bloodline, that promise would have been broken. In case you haven’t noticed through scripture, our God does not break promises.

If Joseph wasn’t there, exactly where God had placed him, when Pharaoh needed his dreams interpreted, then the famine would have wiped out the bloodline that led to Jesus Christ. Joseph may not have seen his purpose as he sat in the bottom of the pit and waited on his brothers to decide what they were going to do with him, but as he stood before them, saving them from the famine in front of him, he knew that God had used him for a purpose. He forgave his brothers, saved the people from starvation, and continued the bloodline of his family. Joseph did more than just save people from a famine, he made a way for the Deliverer to one day save you and I.

It’s amazing to see how God works things out in the end. If you feel like God is nowhere near, I want you to know that He is right by your side. Even when you don’t see it, He’s working.

Be patient. Be faithful. Be who God wants you to be.

May God bless you and show you His grace every day!

-Kayla Rampey

Welcome to the family of god!

This Valentine’s Day, God reminded be of the greatest Valentine of all, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the One example of unconditional love that no other being can express. No flowers, candy, or even diamond rings can express the love that our Lord and Savior can. Just as John 3:16 tells us, “For God SO LOVED the world that He gave His One and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” There’s no way I can give anyone the gift of eternal life, no gift that can measure up to His greatness, and no love that can be as strong as His. I thank God for His amazing love

Valentine’s weekend 2021, I was blessed to be able to experience something I’ve prayed about for many years, the salvation of my firstborn son. As a mother of 2, I pray for my sons to one day get saved, love, and have a desire to serve God. It is a prayer that I’ll never stop praying. I want nothing more than to see family on fire for God.  About a year and a half ago, Carson came home from school and didn’t beg for snacks and run around like he always does; instead, as soon as he got in, he asked me how he could become a Christian. I remember sitting there beside him at the table in shock wondering what to say. In my experience as a speaker, working in youth ministry, and teaching Released Time, I’ve explained salvation and prayed with several students as they accepted Jesus Christ into their hearts; however, as I sat there with my son, my mind went blank. My heart raced as I silently prayed that God would give me the words to speak. I explained the meaning of salvation and answered his questions. His innocence was precious as he answered back and said, “I know that Jesus died for me and rose again so why am I not saved?” He went on to talk about heaven and all that he knew about Jesus and even the trinity but he still wondered about if he was saved. I just listened as he shared his heart. As a young child, he knew a lot about the Bible, and I thank God for instilling that desire for him to learn and grow in His word. I thank God for the teachers and pastors that stood beside him and taught him about who God is. I thank God for the prayer warriors that have been on their knees for the ones that don’t know Christ. That day, I prayed with Carson and I honestly believe he got saved.

When Dustin came home, I was crying in our room, happy tears of course, but I just wondered if he was too young or if he really knew all that he needed to know to be saved. We talked about it awhile and agreed to talk with the pastor as well. The truth is, only God knows the relationship status between Himself and another. The love of God is not based on age or even knowledge of the Bible, it is based on the belief that someone has in Jesus Christ. Carson knows and believes in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He knows and knew then why Jesus had to die for our sins. He may not have known every story of every page of the Bible but he knew and still knows today, that he believes in Jesus Christ. Belief is what saves you.

Carson didn’t get baptized then or announce it to the world but he did start to grow closer to God. As parents, Dustin and I wanted to wait and see what happened next. I guess we wanted to know if his answers were just repetitive things he’s heard all of his life or if he meant and truly understood what he prayed. For the next year, Carson has continued to randomly ask questions about the Bible. He’s prayed for his family and even argued with another kid about how Jesus is God and not just a man. He even taught them about the trinity with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit (we’ve got to work on the arguing gracefully part) It’s been amazing to see how one wild child that never slows down always finds time to show his faith and ask the questions he needs to ask. I can’t count the times I’ve sat by his bed and just talked about heaven and the glory of God.

On Saturday, February 13th 2021, on the ride home with his brother asleep in the backseat, Carson asked me more questions about salvation and life after death. He explained how he didn’t want anyone to go to hell, even the bad people, because he’s supposed to love them too. He even told me about how he was going to tell his friend to pray for her brother that is mean to her. He said if she does maybe God will make him nicer one day, she just has to keep praying. The conversation continued until he asked again about how to get saved. He said he remembered praying with me after school but he wanted to make sure he did it right. I could tell this bothered him. He’s always been wild, but he’s always been a thinker. He wasn’t sure about his salvation because a year back his own mom and dad weren’t sure of his salvation either. As prodigal parents that had to hit rock bottom before reaching up and getting saved, we both had our doubts. I let my fears cloud my confidence in God. God never said a person had to be an adult with years of sin before they got saved, He just said they had to believe.

I feared that my son was too young, but the Bible says, “…but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:4.

Only God knows the exact time a person is ready to accept Jesus as their Savior. His clear desire is that anyone who believes in Him can have eternal life. That Saturday, as I drove down the road, Carson prayed and accepted the Lord as His Savior. He’s 7 1/2 years old. There is no greater feeling than knowing your child, your own flesh and blood, is saved by Jesus Christ. As I sat in awe of what had just happened, Carson started to talk about how he wanted to tell his brother about Jesus and one day tell people around the world. I pray that he never loses his passion and desire to serve the Lord.

Carson, I have no idea what God has planned for your life, but I do know you are very special to Him and to me. You are loved by a God that will never leave you. He is your Heavenly Father and you are now a child of His. I thank God for your decision to follow Christ and every moment that He gives me with you. Love you always, Mom.

This blog is a little more personal and maybe a little more “motherly” than my regular blogs, but I wanted to share this with you so that you will realize that you are never too young, never too old, and never too broken to get saved. The Bible says, “…because if you confess with your moth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

We have all sinned and all deserve eternal death, but God sent his Son to save us from our bondage. Whether you’re a young child with “little” sins as we think of today or an adult with a lifetime of baggage and regrets, your sins are all the same and you still need a Savior to cleanse you.

Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

Believe and receive the gift He offers today.

May God bless you and show you His grace every day!

Even if

“My God can. My God is able. But even if He doesn’t, I will still serve Him.”

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were facing the flames when King Nebuchadnezzar gave them one last chance to bow before him. When they refused to obey the king and worship him, they knew their punishment would be death. The king heated the fire 7x stronger than usual and brought out his strongest guards to bind and throw the 3 men into the fire. The fire was so strong that the heat radiating from the flames killed the men that threw them in. It would take a miracle to save these men of God.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t,we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.” Daniel 3:16-18

They risked their lives willingly for the glory of God. As they faced the king and admitted their disobedience, they basically said “Our God can rescue us. Our God is able to rescue us. But even if He doesn’t, we will still serve Him.”

As the story goes on, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into the fire for disobeying the king. But the story doesn’t end there…

“But suddenly, Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in amazement and exclaimed to his advisers, “Didn’t we tie up three men and throw them into the furnace?” “Yes, Your Majesty, we certainly did,” they replied “Look!” Nebuchadnezzar shouted. “I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a god”

“ Then Nebuchadnezzar came as close as he could to the door of the flaming furnace and shouted: “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here! So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stepped out of the fire. Then the high officers, officials, governors, and advisers crowded around them and saw that the fire had not touched them. Not a hair on their heads was singed, and their clothing was not scorched. They didn’t even smell of smoke!”        Daniel 3:24-27

God rescued Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the depths of a fire. The scripture even states that “they didn’t even smell like smoke” when they came out. Have you ever stood beside a fire? Even standing near a fire can make you smell like smoke, but these guys walked out of the flames without a scent of smoke.  Their faith saved them from their darkest moment.

After seeing the men walk out of the fire, “King Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent his angel to rescue his servants who trusted in him. They defied the king’s command and were willing to die rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.” Daniel 3:28  Through the fire God showed His power.

When was the last time you prayed to God and said something like this, “Lord, I know you are able to heal my family member, but even if you don’t, I will still love You.”

Saying it now may seem easy, but what if your parent or closest friend became very sick, would you be able to pray that prayer? Would you be able to confidently say “even if you don’t heal my friend, I will still love you?”

The “even if” part of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego’s story is my favorite part. They knew that they were facing a horrific death, being thrown into a fire, by refusing to worship the king. But they also knew their God could save them if it be His will. They were willing to risk their lives for what they believed in. When they were given a final chance to bow before the king, I can imagine their hearts racing as they stood up for God and said ““Our God can rescue us. Our God is able to rescue us. But even if He doesn’t, we will still serve Him.”  (Daniel 3:17-18)

Their faith was with them until the end and in the end the end their faith was rewarded when God rescued them from the fire.

How strong is your faith in comparison to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego’s? Would you be willing to lay down your life for God?

As you pray throughout the week I want you to remember this story and the “even if” moment that changed the lives of so many.

Here are a few of my hardest “even if” prayers that I’ve prayed in my life.

My God can. My God is able. But…

Even if He doesn’t bless me with a child, I’ll still worship Him.

Even if He doesn’t heal my brokenness, I’ll still worship Him.

Even if He doesn’t cure my friend’s little girl of cancer, I’ll still worship Him.

Even if He doesn’t change my friend’s heart and turn her back to God, I’ll still worship Him.

What’s your even if _________ that you need to fill in today? Cry out to God today and let Him know that no matter what His will may be, you will still worship Him.

Love you and praying for you all!

May God bless you and show you His grace every day! –Kayla Rampey

My Fear doesn’t stand a chance

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled neither let them be afraid.” John 14:27

The kind of peace that the Lord gives us is like no other. It is not the peace that the world can give us, but a peace of understanding, a peace of contentment, and a peace that grants us hope. When we turn our eyes to Jesus we are allowing the storms of this world to subside and the peace of God to take over. We are letting go of our fears and turning our focus to our hope in Jesus Christ.

I ask you today to reflect on what you fear most. Make a list and read over each one. Is there anything on that list that God cannot conquer?

To give you an example, I’ll share a part of my list with you. (Believe it or not, leaders have fears as well)

I fear…

  1. Something happening to one of my children or them rebelling against God
  2. Losing loved ones – especially those that don’t know Christ
  3. The future – the unknown
  4. Not doing enough for God
  5. Things that I cannot control

The list could go on and on but as one of my favorite songs says “My fear doesn’t stand a chance when I stand in Your love.” (Josh Baldwin)

Each fear on my list can be solved with scripture.

Losing a loved one that is saved means that they are no longer struggling in this world, they are rejoicing in Heaven.

“but we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8

When my Papa died, I was extremely sad but I can say with confidence that my papa, suffering and not knowing the ones he loved most, having lived a life devoted to the Lord, would much rather be absent from his body and at home with the Lord on the day he breathed his last that continuing the life he had left on earth. He left this world to be where he belonged, with his Heavenly Father.

As for my fears for my children and the things I cannot control, I must have faith that the Lord is in control of all things. There is nothing that I can do in comparison to God.

“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

My job is to raise my children in a Christian home and show them the love of Christ every day. The Lord will guide them the rest of the way. My trust has to remain in Him.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

When the future starts to worry me it’s because I’ve become too focused on self and not focused on God. When I turn my eyes to the Lord and away from the struggles of this world, I’m reminded that my hope is in Him and He has already overcome the world.

“These things I have spoken to you that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trials and sorrow, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

All your fears, all your sorrows, and all your pain that you are facing today, can all be taken away by finding peace in the Lord.

Turn your eyes to Him today and allow Him to give peace you’ve never known.

May God bless you and show you His grace every day!
