Have you ever said or heard someone say “I hate people.”? <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\n\nAs followers of Christ, you are called to make disciples, but how can you do that if you keep saying you \u201chate\u201d people. \n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTherefore go and make disciples of\nall nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the\nHoly Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And\nsurely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.\u201d Matthew 28:19-20<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bible clearly states that it is important for\nyou to love God and love people. This is repeated multiple times throughout\nscripture. In Matthew 22: 36-40, Jesus speaks of the love, not hate, that you\nshould show those around you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTeacher, which is the greatest commandment\nin the Law?\u201d<\/em> Jesus replied: \u201c\u2018Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul\nand with all your mind.\u2019This is the first and greatest\ncommandment. And the second is like it:\n\u2018Love your neighbor as yourself.\u2019 All the Law and the\nProphets hang on these two commandments.\u201d Matthew 22:36-40<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If\nyou \u201chate people,\u201d you are also saying that you hate yourself because guess\nwhat guys, you are a person. More than that, God created you and everyone\naround you. By hating people, you hate God\u2019s creation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hatred\nis defined as \u2018intense dislike or ill will.\u2019 Do you have ill will for God\u2019s\ncreation? As a child of God, you are His creation that He has commanded to love\nothers as you love yourself. He doesn\u2019t specify certain people or give you\ncharacteristics of the people you and shouldn\u2019t like; instead, He commands you\nto love others as you love yourself. No one is excluded from His command. Jesus\nshared His love by dying on the cross for the sins of the whole world. Why is\nit that it is so hard for believers today to simply love others just by being\nkind? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\ncan guarantee you that there will be people that you cannot get along with no\nmatter how hard you try. There will be people that love you no matter what, and\nthen there will be people that refuse to like you no matter what. Life is not\neasy and we are all imperfect people, but the Jesus still commands us to love\none another. How can you love someone that is not easy to love? What about your\nenemies or evil people in this world?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 <\/sup><\/em><\/strong>\u201cYou have heard that it was said, \u2018Love your\nneighborand hate your enemy.\u2019 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,\nthat you may be children of your Father in heaven.<\/strong> He causes his sun\nto rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the\nunrighteous.If you love those who love you, what reward\nwill you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?And\nif you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not\neven pagans do that?Be perfect, therefore, as your\nheavenly Father is perfect.\u201d Matthew 5:43-48<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite how hard\nit may be, the Lord says we are to pray for our enemies. More than that, we are\ncalled to step out of our comfort zone and love those that are not in our\ncircle of friends. If Christians only made friends with other Christians and\nnever spoke to nonbelievers, how would people come to know Christ? What would\nunbelievers think about Christians if they never spoke to them? Christians, it\u2019s\ntime to step up and show the love others through the love of Christ. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know that not\neveryone will get along in this world, but it is important for you and I both\nto realize that God is greater than any hate in this world. God can settle the\nhatred that boils under your skin if you will just turn it over to Him, ask for\nforgiveness, and let Him fill you with the love that only He can provide.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From now on, before\nyou use the word hate, remember that hate is not just a word you are using\nagainst another person or thing; it is a word that you are using against God. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you say, \u201cI\nhate that person.\u201d You are saying, \u201cI hate who God created!\u201d Do you really mean\nthat? Would you look up to God and tell Him you hate His creation?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remind yourself daily\nof God\u2019s great love and the love that you are to mimic to others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Show love by living\nlike Christ. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make disciples\nby devoting your life to being different. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stop the hate,\nturn to Christ, and trust His guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
